KARACHI, October 31, 2026 (VoM News): Pakistan won the toss and elected to bowl first against Sri Lanka in the final of the Pakistan ODI Tri-Series 2026.

Pakistan captain Shaheen Afridi said the decision was influenced by the possibility of dew later in the match and the opportunity to exploit the new ball during the opening overs. He also confirmed that Faheem Ashraf had replaced Shadab Khan, who was unwell.

Sri Lanka captain Kusal Mendis said his team was prepared to bat first and expressed confidence in the players’ form and assigned roles. Sri Lanka made one change to their playing XI, bringing in Maheesh Theekshana in place of Ehsan Malinga.

According to pitch analyst Aamer Sohail, the surface was hard and dry, with less grass than the pitches used earlier in the series. He expected consistent pace and bounce, although fast bowlers would need to work harder for assistance. Spinners could find some help during the second innings, while the conditions were expected to favour batters overall.

Sri Lanka Playing XI: Avishka Fernando, Kamindu Mendis, Kusal Mendis (captain and wicketkeeper), Pavan Rathnayake, Sahan Arachchige, Janith Liyanage, Dasun Shanaka, Dunith Wellalage, Maheesh Theekshana, Asitha Fernando and Dilshan Madushanka.

Pakistan Playing XI: Fakhar Zaman, Maaz Sadaqat, Babar Azam, Saad Baig (wicketkeeper), Salman Agha, Hasan Nawaz, Arafat Minhas, Faheem Ashraf, Shaheen Afridi (captain), Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf.
