Rajya Sabha MP Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo Sanctions Initial ₹50 Lakh for Sarai at SKIMS Soura for Patients and Attendants from Chenab Valley
Kishtwar: In a significant initiative aimed at providing relief to patients and their attendants from the Chenab Valley, Member of Parliament Rajya Sabha Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo has sanctioned an initial amount of ₹50 lakh under the MPLAD Scheme for the construction of a Sarai (rest house) at SKIMS Soura, Srinagar.
The proposed facility aims to provide affordable accommodation and basic amenities to patients and their attendants travelling from Kishtwar, Doda, Ramban and other parts of the Chenab Valley, particularly Marwah, Warwan, Padder, Chatroo, Bounzwah and Bhalessa, for advanced medical treatment at SKIMS Soura.
Patients and their families often face considerable difficulties arranging affordable accommodation during prolonged treatment and repeated hospital visits. The proposed Sarai is expected to help ease these hardships, particularly for economically weaker families who travel long distances to Srinagar in search of specialised healthcare.
The initiative reflects an effort to address the practical challenges faced by people from remote and far-flung areas of the Chenab Valley and to improve access to essential support services during medical emergencies and treatment.
In addition to the proposed Sarai, an ambulance facility will also be made available for the people of the Chenab Valley, further strengthening medical assistance and helping patients access healthcare services when needed.
The project is being described as a dream initiative of National Conference MP Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo, focused on providing meaningful assistance to patients and their attendants and reducing the financial and logistical burdens associated with travelling to Srinagar for medical care.
Through these initiatives, Kichloo aims to address the healthcare-related difficulties faced by people across Kishtwar and other areas of the Chenab Valley, with particular attention to families from remote and underserved regions.
