Former US President Barack Obama Says US War on Iran Has Increased Vulnerability, Peaked Oil Prices | Trump Defends Millitary Strikes
MORROW, October 29, 2026 (VoM News): While lashing a heap of criticism on Trump’s war against Iran, Former US President Barack Obama stated that the conflict has weakened American security, depleted missile stockpiles and contributed to rising oil prices.
He made these remarks while addressing the supporters in Morrow, Georgia, near Atlanta, as campaigning intensifies ahead of the November 3 midterm elections.
Obama questioned the justification for launching military operations against Tehran, and stated that Iran did not possess nuclear weapons.
He highlighted the 2015 nuclear agreement/pact negotiated during his presidency, which imposed restrictions on Iran’s nuclear programme, and defended that in every possible way.
“I didn’t have to fire any missiles. I engaged in diplomacy,” Obama said, contrasting his administration’s approach with the current military campaign.
He further argued that the war started by Donald Trump had exposed American forces and allies to greater risks, with US bases and regional partners coming under attack.
He gave examples by citing the American casualties and injuries, warning that the depletion of missile reserves had left the country more vulnerable, and claimed that Iran had gained leverage over the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil transit route, contributing to rising energy prices.
President Donald Trump, meanwhile, defended the military campaign during a rally in Chillicothe, Ohio. He claimed Iran’s missile capabilities had been significantly reduced and that electricity shortages were affecting its drone manufacturers.
The United States and Israel launched attacks on Iran on February 28, while Oman-mediated negotiations over Tehran’s nuclear programme were underway.
The conflict has since escalated the regional tensions, with its military, economic and diplomatic consequences becoming a major issue in the US election campaign, and has brutally affected the global supply chain.
