Trump Endorses Netanyahu Ahead of Israel’s October 27 Election
WASHINGTON, October 19, 2026 [VoM News]: US President Donald Trump has endorsed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for re-election, throwing his support behind his longtime ally nine days before Israel’s October 27 parliamentary election.
In a post on Truth Social on Sunday, Trump described Netanyahu as “Strong, Brave, and Brilliant” and announced his “Complete and Total Endorsement” of the Israeli leader.
Trump highlighted their cooperation against Iran and warned that Washington could be left to confront remaining threats itself if Netanyahu were replaced.
Netanyahu thanked Trump for his support, saying the two leaders would continue working together to “complete the mission.” His Likud party also released campaign material highlighting their relationship.
The October 27 election will be Israel’s first national vote since the Hamas-led October 7, 2023 attack. Netanyahu faces a close contest, with former military chief Gadi Eisenkot among his principal political rivals.
Recent polling has indicated that neither Netanyahu’s bloc nor its main rivals have a clear path to the 61 seats required to control Israel’s 120-member parliament and form a governing coalition.
Trump and Netanyahu have maintained a close relationship despite disagreements in recent months over the handling of the conflict with Iran and other regional issues.
