NC Offers Deputy CM Post to Congress, Omar Meets Rahul Gandhi Amid Power-Sharing Speculation
Srinagar Oct 10: The National Conference is making every effort to keep Congress and Rahul Gandhi in good humour, with Omar Abdullah reportedly offering the Deputy Chief Minister’s post to Congress.
The NC recognises Rahul Gandhi’s growing stature as the principal national challenger to Narendra Modi and is keen to avoid antagonising him, particularly with the 2029 Lok Sabha elections in sight.
Meanwhile, Congress’s silence continues, even as influential sections within the party in Delhi and Kashmir favour joining the Omar Abdullah government, exposing divisions over power-sharing and political principles.
