India Responds to Shehbaz Sharif at United Nations General Assembly, Demands Pakistan ‘Terrorism Will Not Be Tolerated’

UNITED NATIONS, September 26, 2026 [VoM News]: India on Saturday, 26th September 2026, categorically rejected a Pakistani leader’s remarks at the United Nations General Assembly, which accused India of harbouring terrorism and repeated that Jammu and Kashmir was an “integral and inalienable” part of India.

India, which had exercised its Right of Reply following Sharif’s speech a day earlier, responded by calling his comments ‘bizarre’ and referring to Osama bin Laden’s presence in Pakistan, pointing out that the 9/11 mastermind was located in Abbottabad in proximity of Pakistan’s most prestigious military university.

Pakistan, meanwhile, accused India of double standards over terrorism, saying the country “pretend to pursue peace by day and engage in terrorism by night”.

He also made it clear that India will keep on the right to take terrorism.

“We proved last year that terrorists will have nowhere to run, nowhere to hide,” she said, adding “Pakistani terrorism will have consequences, continued terrorism by Pakistan will have consequences.”

The comments came after Operation Sindoor, initiated by India on 7 May 2025, against alleged terrorist facilities in Pakistan and Pak-occupied Kashmir as a reprisal of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 innocent lives were lost.

On Friday, during his UNGA speech, Sharif reminded the 2025 India-Pakistan clash and said it was US President Donald Trump who mediated in the clash. He also mentioned the Kashmir dispute and said that enduring peace in South Asia was impossible without a “equitable and just resolution.”

India has claimed that the halt of hostilities in May 2025 was due to direct engagement between the military establishments of India and Pakistan, and has denied the existence of third-party mediation.

In response to Sharif’s Kashmir comments, Gehlot argued that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India, adding that focus should be shifted to Pakistan occupied Kashmir.

“Question the residents of Rawalkot about the mass murders and human rights abuses committed by the Pakistan government in that region,” she added.

New Delhi also attacked Pakistan’s history of democracy, human rights and religious tolerance, and said it was spreading ” repeated falsehoods” before the international community.

He also mentioned the Indus Waters Treaty in his address, criticizing India’s decision to “suspend” the treaty and what he termed as the “weaponisation” of water.

India has stated that the pact will stay in abeyance till Pakistan “credibly and irrevocably” end its backing of cross-border terrorism. This step was one of the measures announced by New Delhi following the attack on Pahalgam in 2025.
