In the run-up to the assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan accused Kamal Nath, the president of Madhya Pradesh Congress, of promoting a governance model characterized by “corruption, crime, and commission.” The state assembly elections are scheduled for November 17, with results to be declared on December 3.

Chouhan challenged the notion that a Congress victory would usher in the “Kamal Nath model,” asserting that it represents a blueprint for corruption and criminal activity. He made these remarks during a rally in Tikamgarh district, where he emphasized the potential negative consequences of a Congress government coming to power.

Ladli Behna Yojana at the Center of Election Debate

Chouhan also focused on the Ladli Behna Yojana, a flagship program of his government. He stated that if Congress takes control, this scheme, which provides monthly support to women beneficiaries, would cease to exist. In contrast, the Congress, in its election manifesto, has promised a monthly assistance of Rs 1,500 to women.

Chouhan previously announced that the aid under Ladli Behna Yojana would progressively increase to Rs 3,000 per month. He went on to outline several other promises and initiatives of his government, such as paying the fees of economically disadvantaged students entering engineering and medical programs, offering jobs to every family, supplying LPG cylinders at Rs 450 each, and waiving inflated electricity bills. Chouhan expressed his doubts about the Congress’s ability to fulfill these commitments.

    Chouhan’s Campaign Across Multiple Districts

Apart from these policy discussions, Chouhan addressed rallies in various districts, including Sagar, Chhatarpur, Panna, and Satna.

As the election campaign intensifies, leaders from various political parties are engaging with voters, highlighting their respective agendas, and seeking to secure support in a fiercely contested election in Madhya Pradesh.
