NUVELL Debuts the World’s First Fully Automatic Home Tofu Maker at IFA 2026

NUVELL Debuts the World’s First Fully Automatic Home Tofu Maker at IFA 2026

BERLIN — September 7, 2026 — Until now, tofu was primarily known as a pre-packaged grocery item off the supermarket shelf. Startup NUVELL aims to change that: At IFA 2026, the company is unveiling what it calls the world’s first fully automatic tofu maker for home use. The new NUVELL Home Plant Protein System not only crafts fresh tofu from soybeans, but also produces fresh plant milk—such as oat or almond milk—using the exact same machine.

What traditionally required numerous manual steps, multiple containers, and considerable experience becomes a largely automated process with NUVELL. Users simply select what they want to make, add the necessary ingredients, and choose their desired result. The machine then handles the core process itself, including grinding, heating, filtering, and—for tofu production—coagulating, draining, and pressing.

    From Soybeans to Finished Tofu—Automatically

NUVELL is bringing a familiar concept from bean-to-cup coffee machines to the world of plant-based foods: Instead of managing each individual production step, the user simply decides on the final outcome.

For plant milk, users can adjust volume, concentration, and consistency. For tofu, the desired firmness can be selected. The system translates these preferences into the corresponding production steps, automatically controlling temperature, timing, blending, and pressing.

The result is a completely new approach to preparing plant-based foods at home: Turning a few raw ingredients into fresh, customizable products right in your own kitchen.

Plant Milk in the Morning, Tofu for Dinner

A key highlight of the NUVELL system is how it bridges two previously separate appliance categories. The same machine makes both plant milk and pressed tofu, as both share core processing steps like grinding, heating, and filtering. For tofu, the machine then continues the process—from adding the coagulant and curdling to draining and pressing.

In its current development stage, the machine can produce up to ~1.2 liters of plant milk per cycle in roughly 15 to 25 minutes. A tofu cycle takes about 30 to 60 minutes and yields around 150 to 200 grams of fresh tofu. Final figures may vary depending on ingredients, recipes, and chosen settings, and remain subject to final production specifications.

With this release, NUVELL isn’t just targeting vegans and vegetarians. Tofu is becoming increasingly appealing to health- and fitness-conscious consumers: Instead of relying on pre-packaged store-bought items, users have full control over the raw ingredients, texture, and preparation.

    Even the Cleaning is Automated

Post-preparation maintenance is designed to be just as effortless. Internal lines and hard-to-reach areas are cleared via automated cleaning cycles. For daily maintenance, both a high-temperature rinse cycle and a deep-cleaning program (including descaling) are available. Removable parts are designed for easy separate cleaning.

With the Home Plant Protein System, NUVELL aims to establish an entirely new kitchen category: an all-in-one automatic tofu maker that brings the same level of convenience to fresh plant-based foods that automated espresso machines brought to coffee.

Just load fresh ingredients, select your desired setting, and let the machine handle the rest.
