Cluster University of Jammu Launches Major Anti-Drug Youth Campaign

JAMMU, August 2, 2026: The Cluster University of Jammu today emerged as a beacon of youth empowerment by orchestrating massive, synchronized participation in the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’ across all its constituent colleges.

The event aligned seamlessly with the nationwide virtual launch by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi Ji, who addressed over 1 crore youth across nearly 28,000 locations. Inspired by the PM’s vision that “Drug-free youth are the greatest strength of Viksit Bharat,” the campaign was conducted under the esteemed guidance of the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Sr. Prof. K. S. Chandrasekar.

Carrying the rallying cry “Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life,” the university mobilized its student and faculty base for this historic Jan Bhagidari movement. The programme was meticulously coordinated across five constituent colleges viz. Government College of Education, SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu, Government College for Women Gandhi Nagar, MAM College, and GGM Science College under the supervision of Prof. Vishal Sharma, DSW, and the respective Principals.

The occasion was graced by Shri Yudhvir Sethi, MLA, Jammu East, alongside Sr. Prof. K. S. Chandrasekar, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, CLUJ. Following the SOP, the programme commenced with the University anthem in Dogri, followed by formal welcome addresses. During his address, the Chief Guest announced a significant grant of ₹20 lakh for GGM Science College.

Subsequently, Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal of GGM Science College, presented planters and bouquets to the dignitaries as a token of respect. Adhering strictly to coordination guidelines, the Nasha Mukt Yuva Pledge was administered to all present including the Chief Guest, MY Bharat volunteers, faculty, and students well before the Prime Minister’s virtual address. All venues were fully equipped with audio-visual arrangements, branding, and cameras for seamless connectivity.

Participants viewed the PM’s live address on large screens, with MY Bharat volunteers seated prominently in the front rows. Notably, the Sankalp Abhiyan is not a one-day event but the launch of a 100-week Sunday programme, featuring Walkathons, Meditation Sessions, Art Competitions, Cultural/Sports events, and Nukkad Natak to sustain the anti-drug narrative over the long term.

The seamless execution was made possible by the dedicated Nodal, NCC, and NSS Programme Officers. Senior functionaries gracing the occasion included Prof. Chandershekhar (Dean Sciences), Prof. (Dr.) Vishal Sharma (Dean Social Sciences), Registrar Ms. Ankur Mahajan (JKAS), Prof. Jyoti Parihar (Principal COE), Prof. Twinkle Suri (DAA), Prof. Kulvinder Kour (Principal GCW), Dr. Monika Sharma (Dean Humanities), Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Kumar Verma (Principal MAM), and Prof. Sunil Gupta (Principal SPMR).

Also present were Dr. Meenakshi Bandral (Director IQAC), Lt. (Dr.) Shafia Saleem (Director Extension and Outreach), Dr. Vinod Bakshi (Physical Education and Sports), Lt. (Dr.) Davinder K. Sharma (NCC Coordinator), and Dr. Amitpal (NSS Coordinator). Dr. Shalini Sharma, NSS Programme Officer, skillfully conducted the proceedings.
