    Ganderbal, July 28, 2026 [VoM News]: At least 39 Amarnath Yatra pilgrims were injured after a bus carrying them skidded off the road and crashed into a house in the Ganiwan area of Ganderbal district on Tuesday, officials said.

    As per details available to VoM News, the vehicle struck a house after the driver reportedly lost control of the speeding bus while negotiating a curve, causing extensive damage to the structure.

    As per the officials, the impact prevented the bus from plunging into the nearby Sindh River. A major tragedy was averted, as the bus struck houses, which reciprocally would have plunged into a gorgeous, if it had not struck the structure.

    It has been also reported that no one was inside the house at the time of the accident.

    Soon, after the accident, the locals alongwith the security personel shifted the injured to SKIMS for treatment.

    Reports say that the injured pilgrims were returning after paying obeisance at the Amarnath cave shrine.

    Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha spoke to the Deputy Commissioner of Ganderbal and health officials to review the condition of the injured pilgrims. He directed the authorities to ensure the best possible medical treatment and all necessary assistance.

    Jammu Kashmir Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha said, “I pray to Lord Shiva for the speedy recovery of the injured devotees.”
