40 Percent surge in remote work – 30 most-searched roles revealed

With remote job searches surging by 40% in 6 months, a new study by flexible workspace platform, Spacepool, has revealed the 30 most sought-after roles and the type of work being looked for.

Using Google search volumes, they analyzed phrases containing ‘remote’, ‘work from home’ and ‘work from anywhere’. Job titles and types of work were collated and ranked based on the average number of global searches a month for the past 12 months.

Data entry is the most sought-after remote job in the world

The number of searches a month for data entry jobs amounted to 318,020 across the globe. This was 17% higher than the role ranked second – Customer Service – which had 270,890 searches a month.

Surprisingly, nurse jobs were also in the top 3 most sought-after remote roles, with 114,200 monthly searches. Despite the view that nurses are face-to-face only, there are some roles that make working from home possible – research, call triage, and coordinators, for example.

In fact, phrases like ‘remote nurse jobs’ and ‘nurse work from home jobs’ are searched across many industries, including veterinary, mental health, and occupational health.

Demand for remote jobs is rising – these are the 30 most-searched roles

The ability to work part time is the most attractive in remote roles

Analysis of searches for jobs containing ‘remote’, ‘work from home’ and ‘work from anywhere’ reveals that the majority of people are seeking part time roles. In fact, searches for part time remote jobs over doubles that of searches around remote jobs with no experience.

On the results, Eugene Tavyev, CEO and Founder of Spacepool, said“The remote working train has well and truly departed the station. There seems to be no slowing the trend.

This is no longer a pandemic-related shift – it’s here to stay. And there’s whole generations of tech-savvy savants, who were bought up on smartphones and social media, leading the charge.”

    Methodology

Spacepool analyzed global Google searches containing ‘jobs’ plus ‘remote’, ‘work from home’ or ‘work from anywhere’ using Ahrefs.

Specific job titles were collated and ranked based on the average number of global searches a month for the past 12 months.

Google searches containing ‘jobs’ plus ‘remote’, ‘work from home’ or ‘work from anywhere’ + related phrases, like part time and night shift, were also collated. These were ranked in the same way.
