3 OGWs Arrested in Rajouri & Poonch, 7 Others Linked to LoC Drone Deliveries: JK Police
In a significant operation spanning 48 hours, Jammu and Kashmir’s Director General of Police (DGP), R R Swain, revealed the arrest of three over ground workers (OGWs) involved in facilitating drone deliveries. Additionally, seven others have been identified for their roles in these illicit activities. The crackdown occurred in Rajouri and Poonch districts of the Union Territory, reflecting a crucial step towards enhancing security in the region.
3 OGWs Arrested in Rajouri:Unveiling the Operation: Identifying Culprits
During the operation, searches were conducted at ten locations, leading to the identification of seven individuals linked to drone delivery cases. According to Swain, these individuals were actively involved in receiving and distributing materials transported via drones from Pakistan. Notably, the arrested OGWs played a pivotal role in facilitating the movement of drones, serving as a crucial link between the perpetrators and their handlers across the border.

The arrested individuals, namely Gulshan Naz, Imtiaz Ahmed, and Abid Shah, were operating under the directives of Mohammad Qasim, alias Suleman, a LeT commander currently residing in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK). Qasim, identified as the mastermind behind these operations, has been implicated in various acts of terrorism, including the Katra bus blast and the Narwal explosion.

Swain emphasized the importance of public awareness in thwarting attempts to radicalize vulnerable youth. Despite Qasim’s efforts to recruit individuals through social media platforms, many have been deterred from joining militancy. However, Swain urged parents and educators to remain vigilant, highlighting the need for collective efforts in combatting radical ideologies.
Moreover, the police are actively monitoring social media activities, particularly those involving VPN usage, to prevent any connection with anti-national elements. This proactive approach underscores the commitment of law enforcement agencies to safeguard the region from external threats and maintain peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir.
