Yashasvi Jaiswal Clinches ICC Men’s Player of the Month Award
India’s rising star, Yashasvi Jaiswal, secured the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for February 2024, triumphing over notable players like Kane Williamson and Pathum Nissanka. The International Cricket Council (ICC) recognized Jaiswal’s outstanding performances during the month.
Dominance in World Test Championship
Jaiswal currently leads the run charts in the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC), showcasing his prowess with two remarkable double centuries against England in February. In the five-match Test series, he contributed significantly with a score of 219 in Vizag and another double century in Rajkot.
Record-Breaking Achievements at 22
At just 22 years and 49 days old, Jaiswal equaled the long-standing Test record for the most sixes in a Test innings (12) during his Rajkot innings. His back-to-back double hundreds positioned him as the third youngest batter globally to achieve this feat, following Sir Donald Bradman and Vinod Kambli.
Jaiswal’s Reflection on the Award
Expressing his happiness, Jaiswal stated that winning the ICC award was a significant achievement. He cherished the incredible experience of participating in the five-match Test series against England, where India emerged victorious with a 4-1 lead.
“I’m really happy to achieve ICC award, and I hope I will be getting more in the future. I really enjoyed it, the way I have played and the way it’s been, and we won the series by 4-1. It’s been an incredible experience with all my mates, and I really enjoyed it,” said Jaiswal.
