World Rabies Day 2024: GMC Doda Promotes Awareness for Rabies-Free Future

GMC Doda’s Department of Community Medicine observed World Rabies Day 2024, aligning with the global theme, “Breaking Rabies Boundaries.” Under the guidance of Principal Dr. Rakesh Bahl, the event aimed to raise awareness about rabies prevention and control measures.
A diverse group of healthcare professionals, students, and community members actively participated, reflecting their commitment to a rabies-free future.
A series of educational workshops led by Dr. Suresh Kotwal, Head of the Community Medicine Department, emphasized crucial aspects of rabies, such as its transmission, symptoms, and prevention strategies.
Students from the second prof MBBS and Nursing College took a hands-on approach, engaging patients through informative poster presentations and spreading vital knowledge.
The contributions of several faculty members, including Dr. Walied Balwan, Dr. Arjun, Dr. Nayer, Dr. Asif, Dr. Falak, and Dr. Anzar Majeed, were instrumental in the event’s success. Medical Superintendent Dr. Tanveer Rather provided key support, ensuring the smooth execution of the program.
In addition to the workshops, community outreach activities extended to the Rural Health Training Centre (RHTC) and Urban Health Training Centre (UHTC).
Volunteers distributed pamphlets and answered questions from the public, educating them on rabies prevention measures and the importance of timely vaccination.
GMC Doda continues to prioritize health promotion, with a special focus on rabies awareness, prevention, and control.
Their efforts underscore the importance of collaborative work between healthcare professionals, students, and the community in achieving a future free of rabies.
