Water Supply in Kashmir Valley Hit by Prolonged Dry Spell

Approximately 20% of the potable water supply in Kashmir Valley is significantly impacted due to a prolonged dry spell, according to the Chief Engineer of Jal Shakti Department, Kashmir.

The situation is more severe in plain areas, where there is a notable decline in water supply. Isolated springs across the valley have also dried up, worsening water scarcity.

The Chief Engineer emphasized the need for immediate wet weather to address the issue.

Meteorological officials predict generally cloudy conditions and light snow at isolated higher reaches until January 24, with the possibility of light to moderate rain/snow in many places from January 27-31.
