VoM Exclusive: SCO Summit 2025 a Major Setback for Trump’s Global Politics – Faisal Muhammed
Trump’s Miscalculated Tariff War
During the Russia-Ukraine war and the Gaza conflict, Donald Trump made what Faisal Muhammed, an international mediator, called a “disastrous mistake” by launching a tariff war. In an exclusive interview with VOM News, Faisal said that the post-COVID global economy was still fragile, yet Trump’s aggressive economic policies threatened even his own allies. This gave Russia and China an opening to rally nations hurt by US trade aggression, including India, once considered Washington’s closest ally in South Asia.

BRICS and SCO Gain Strength
Faisal highlighted that Trump compounded his blunders by pressuring India to stay away from BRICS while simultaneously giving undue importance to Pakistan in regional affairs. Instead of weakening BRICS, this strengthened both BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). At the SCO summit 2025, China’s leadership declared that the “dragon and the elephant will now walk together,” signaling a new alignment of Russia, China, and India—three nuclear powers uniting. According to Faisal, this was originally the vision of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, which was blocked by Pakistan’s army under US pressure. Ironically, Indian Prime Minister Modi has now embraced that same vision, leaving Pakistan sidelined.

Pakistan Sacrificed in Trump’s Gamble
Commenting further, Faisal Muhammed said that Trump’s refusal to visit India might have been aimed at pleasing Pakistan or pressuring New Delhi, but it backfired, weakening his own QUAD coalition. He warned that Trump’s advisors appear to be deliberately pushing him “into the dark.”, the consequences could be dire. Faisal stressed that under Shahbaz Sharif’s rule, Pakistan has been sacrificed for Trump’s failed global politics, leaving the state dangerously exposed to future crises.
