- Kohli’s 92 off 47 balls against Punjab Kings propels his team’s total to 241/7.
- Kohli surpasses 1,000 runs against Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals, and Chennai Super Kings.
In another stellar performance, Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Virat Kohli etched his name in IPL history by becoming the second player to amass over 600 runs in the tournament for the fourth time. Achieving this milestone during RCB’s clash against Punjab Kings, Kohli blazed his way to 92 runs off just 47 balls, featuring seven fours and six sixes, at a remarkable strike rate of 195.74.
Currently holding the Orange Cap for most runs in the ongoing season, Kohli has amassed an impressive 634 runs in 12 matches, boasting an average of 70.44 and a strike rate of 153.51. With this, he joins Lucknow Super Giants’ skipper KL Rahul in the elite league of players with four IPL seasons of 600 or more runs.
Notably, Kohli’s domination extends beyond individual milestones, as he completed 1,000 runs against Punjab Kings, becoming the first player in IPL history to achieve this feat against three different opponents. With 1,030 runs against Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals, and Chennai Super Kings respectively, Kohli’s batting prowess continues to redefine IPL records.
Additionally, Kohli’s stellar knock propelled RCB to their fifth 200-plus total this season, a testament to their formidable batting lineup. Despite Punjab Kings’ best efforts, RCB’s commanding total of 241/7, fueled by contributions from Kohli, Rajat Patidar, and Cameron Green, proved too challenging to chase down. With this victory, RCB reaffirmed their position as a formidable force in the ongoing IPL season.
