- Rasool cites bias related to his Gujjar or Pahadi identity as a factor.
Former Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President, Vikar Rasool Wani, has publicly alleged a conspiracy to thwart his ambitions of becoming the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir.
Rasool made these claims following his recent removal from the JKPCC leadership role, with Tariq Hameed Karra appointed as his successor.
Addressing a public meeting, Rasool accused certain factions within the party of orchestrating efforts to prevent his ascension to the Chief Minister’s office.
He expressed his belief that various forces have been working behind the scenes specifically to block his path.
Rasool suggested that biases related to his Gujjar or Pahadi identity were influencing these actions and undermining his political career.
Rasool’s comments came in the wake of his absence from a party event in Srinagar organized to welcome Tariq Hameed Karra. Karra, who succeeded Rasool as JKPCC president, explained Rasool’s absence by noting that he was traveling from Banihal.
Despite this, senior party members, including Tara Chand and Raman Bhalla, attended the event from Jammu.
This internal party dispute highlights ongoing tensions and perceived biases within the Congress party as it navigates leadership changes and political strategy in the region.
Rasool’s statements reflect deep-seated frustrations and a belief that internal party dynamics have unfairly impacted his political trajectory.
