Uttarakhand Gears Up for Lok Sabha Elections

In preparation for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Uttarakhand sets up 11,500 booths, with 1,500 marked as hypersensitive. Additional paramilitary forces are requested to bolster security, particularly in sensitive areas.

Enhanced Security Measures

To address security concerns, half to one section of paramilitary forces will be deployed in hypersensitive booths. The Police Headquarters seeks 15% more paramilitary forces from the Center, with 20 companies already allotted in the initial phase.

Paramilitary forces will be primarily allocated to districts such as Udham Singh Nagar, Haridwar, Dehradun, and Nainital. In addition to paramilitary forces, PAC, Home Guards, and local police will be mobilized across the state to ensure smooth conduct of elections.

Election Commission’s Oversight

The Election Commission of India reviews election preparedness in Assam, emphasizing the importance of a level playing field for fair and intimidation-free elections. Observers are instructed to maintain professionalism and accessibility to all stakeholders, including candidates.

Upcoming Election Schedule

The 2024 Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to take place between April and May, marking a crucial period for democracy in India.
