Abbas Araghchi has directly addressed US President Donald Trump in his latest statement.

“Plan A for a clean rapid military victory failed, Mr. President”, Iran’s top diplomat wrote on social media platform X. “Your Plan B will be [an] even bigger failure.”

He concluded by saying the chance for a “unique deal” was “burned” during the latest round of negotiations.

“‘Israel First’ always means ‘America Last’,” the minister added.

Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar spoke with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi as tensions in the region escalate following the sinking of an Iranian warship by a U.S. submarine off Sri Lanka. The vessel, returning from military exercises hosted by India, saw over 80 sailors killed, while more than 30 were rescued with the help of the Sri Lankan navy, and dozens remain missing.

The conversation between Jaishankar and Araghchi comes at a critical moment for India, which faces growing concerns over its energy security.

Iran has threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waterway through which over 20 percent of the world’s oil flows, including a significant portion of India’s oil imports from Gulf nations such as Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

The call reflects India’s urgent need to navigate the complex geopolitical crisis while safeguarding its energy supply and regional interests.

Israel’s UN envoy says not yet time for diplomacy

Danny ⁠Danon, Israel’s ⁠ambassador to the ⁠United Nations, has said that Israel and the US must dismantle more of Iran’s capabilities before turning to diplomacy.

In comments carried by Reuters, made as he spoke to reporters today, Danon added that in a few days ⁠it would be ⁠much harder ⁠for Iran ⁠to ⁠disrupt vessels travelling through ‌the Strait of Hormuz.(Al Jazeera)

Iran has launched more than 2,000 drones so far: Fars news agency

The Fars News Agency, believed to be close to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, has quoted a military source as telling it that the country has launched more than 2,000 drones so far in the war that began last Saturday when Iran was attacked by the United States and Israel.

If that’s true, it amounts to more than 330 drones used every day — or one launched every four minutes. (Al Jazeera)

We’ve seen the air defence missiles lighting up the night sky in Abu Dhabi.We know that at least 131 drones were sent earlier in the day into the United Arab Emirates, and at least six ballistic missiles.

The United Arab Emirates has really had its air defence systems put to the test by the continuous volley – especially of drones, but also ballistic and cruise missiles, continually hitting the country in the past six days.

Going across to Bahrain, in the northeast of the country, in Maameer, an oil refinery has been hit.

Sirens were alerted in the country. People received them on their phones and were told to take shelter and wait to hear more news.

Azerbaijan has closed part of its southern airspace near the Iranian border for 12 hours after reporting that Iranian drones had crossed into its territory.

The move comes after Azerbaijan said drones from Iran crossed the border and struck areas in the country’s autonomous Nakhchivan exclave, damaging infrastructure and injuring civilians.

Iran has denied responsibility for the incident, saying it does not attack neighbouring countries. (Al Jazeera)

The ongoing conflict has claimed at least 1,230 lives in Iran, including 175 schoolgirls in Minab, 77 in Lebanon from Israeli strikes, 11 in Israel, six U.S. service members, and additional casualties in Bahrain (1), Kuwait (4), Oman (1), and the UAE (3).

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard claim to have shot down a US F-15E strike fighter near the country’s southwest borders, the semiofficial Tasnim news agency is reporting.

The US military has denied such reports.

Tasnim, citing the IRGC, reported that the twin-seat fighter had been “targeted and crashed”, without specifying when the incident allegedly occurred.

US CENTCOM posted on X that “rumors circulating on social media of a US F-15E crash in Iran early Wednesday are baseless and NOT TRUE.”

An Iraqi security source has told Al Jazeera that a boat struck an oil tanker flying the flag of the Bahamas in the Iraqi port of Khor al-Zubair, causing damage and an oil spill. (Al jazeera)

The Bahrain Defence Force has said it has destroyed 75 missiles and 123 drones “targeting the Kingdom since the start of the brutal Iranian aggression”, in a post on its Instagram account. (Al Jazeera)

An Israeli attack targeting a car on a highway near the town of Zahle in eastern Lebanon has killed two people, raising today’s death toll to eight, Lebanon’s National News Agency reports, citing the health ministry.

Russia’s Foreign Ministry has accused Washington and Tel Aviv of “trying to drag” Arab nations into war with their strikes on Iran, as it said there were no signs of de-escalation in the conflict.

“They deliberately provoked Iran into retaliatory strikes against targets in some ‌Arab countries, which led to human and material losses, which the Russian side deeply regrets,” the ministry said in a statement.

“In doing so, ⁠[the US and Israel] ⁠are trying to drag the Arabs into a war for someone else’s interests.”

The ministry said the only path to further destabilisation was to stop the attacks on Iran, but there were no signs for now of this happening. AL JAZEERA

Meanwhile, the majority of the US Senate has expressed support for President Donald Trump’s ongoing military campaign against Iran, despite growing concerns from Democratic lawmakers. Critics have warned that the United States could be entering a ground conflict with Iran, leading to “an open-ended engagement with no end in sightedness.”
