UN Experts Call on Oil Companies to Cease Supplying Israeli Military
UN human rights experts have urged BP, Chevron, and Exxon to halt oil supplies to the Israeli military amid the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
Concerns Over Oil Supply to Israeli Military
Michael Fakhri, the UN special rapporteur on the right to food, highlighted research from Oil Change International indicating that the three companies were providing oil to the Israeli military through various countries, including the United States, Brazil, Russia, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan.
Allegations of Complicity in Genocide
Fakhri asserted that these companies could be complicit in genocide and advocated for economic sanctions against them.
Balakrishnan Rajagopal, the UN special rapporteur on the right to adequate housing, echoed Fakhri’s sentiments, emphasizing that corporations must cease supply or face potential liability.
