As the vote count continued, it remained uncertain whether Trump had secured a decisive victory to eliminate his sole remaining challenger, Nikki Haley. In her post-vote speech, Haley emphasized that the race was “far from over” and warned that Democrats prefer to run against Trump, indicating that he is seen as a beatable opponent. Despite Haley’s efforts and strong turnout in the northeastern state, Trump’s dominance in national Republican polling remains robust. The former UN ambassador faces an uphill battle as the primary results project Trump’s continued lead.

Nikki Haley, despite questioning Trump’s mental fitness and warning against another Trump presidency, faced a setback in New Hampshire. Polls indicate that her attempts to position herself as a moderate alternative did not gain sufficient traction. The primary marked a significant win for Trump, who had limited campaign engagement in New Hampshire but maintained a strong message resonating with his base. Haley’s next critical test will be in her home state of South Carolina. The Republican field narrowed to a one-on-one matchup after Florida Governor Ron DeSantis dropped out. Trump’s consistent polling leads and the absence of any substantial competition position him favorably for the nomination.
Biden Wins Unofficial Write-In Vote in New Hampshire
On the Democratic side, New Hampshire Democrats voted for their standard-bearer, defying a national party order to hold the primary later. Although Biden did not file official paperwork amid a disagreement between national and state party officials, broadcasters projected his win as a “write-in” candidate. Biden, campaigning alongside Vice President Kamala Harris in Virginia, focused on issues such as abortion rights, contrasting his stance with Trump’s role in limiting the constitutional right to abortion. The Biden campaign acknowledged that Trump had “all but locked up” the Republican nomination, describing it as a takeover by the “election-denying, anti-freedom MAGA movement.”
