In a heartbreaking turn of events, the father of two brides, Nissar Ahmad Mir, tragically passed away on their wedding day in Haril village of Mawer block, Handwara, located in northern Kashmir’s Kupwara district. The deceased, aged 50, was the son of Mohammad Maqbool Mir.
The weddings of Mir’s two daughters were scheduled for the upcoming Saturday and Sunday. However, Nissar Ahmad’s unexpected death in the early hours of Friday, around 4 am, cast a shadow over the celebrations.
In response to this unforeseen tragedy, the wedding ceremonies were cancelled after consultations with the elders from both families. This decision was made to honor the memory of the deceased and due to the sudden and untimely nature of his death.
Nissar Ahmad Mir was a well-known businessman in the area. He is survived by his four daughters, who now face the double blow of losing their father and the cancellation of their weddings.
The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the village, with the community expressing their condolences and supporting the grieving family during this difficult time. The cancellation of the weddings reflects the cultural and familial respect accorded to such a significant loss, highlighting the close-knit nature of the community in Handwara.
