Traffic Advisory for India International Trade Fair 2023
The Delhi Traffic Police have issued a traffic advisory in light of the ongoing India International Trade Fair 2023 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The fair, which started on November 14, will continue until November 27. This advisory aims to ensure smooth traffic flow and prevent congestion in and around the event area.
Guidelines for Traffic and Parking
To minimize traffic jams, the advisory suggests avoiding routes like Mathura Road, Bhairon Marg, Ring Road, Shershah Road, and Purana Quila Road. Restrictions include a prohibition on vehicle halting and parking on these roads. Commuters are encouraged to use public transportation to ease traffic flow. For those visiting the fair, parking will not be allowed on Sher Shah Road, Purana Quila Road, Bhagwan Dass Road, and Tilak Marg.
Opting for Public Transport
Visitors are advised to use the Delhi Metro, with the Supreme Court Metro Station being the nearest stop. From there, entry to ITPO is available through Gates 4 and 6 or via shuttle service. The Mandi House Metro Station is another convenient stop for visitors who prefer to walk to the venue. For those traveling by bus, the Mathura Road bus stop is the recommended disembarkation point.
Visitor Timings and Entry Points
The fair is open to Business Visitors from November 14 to 18, and to the general public from November 19 to 27. The entry to the Trade Fair closes at 5:30 pm daily. Specific gates, including Gate numbers 5-A, 5-8, 7, 8, and 9, will be closed to visitors. Entry will be allowed through Gate numbers 1, 4, 6, and 10, while exhibitors can enter through Gate numbers 1, 4, 5b, and 10.
Expected Footfall and Congestion
The Trade Fair is expected to attract around 40,000 visitors daily, with numbers potentially reaching one lakh during weekends and holidays. As a result, areas around Pragati Maidan are likely to experience significant traffic congestion, and appropriate road diversions will be in place to manage the flow of vehicles.
