The Punit Balan Group and the Manikchand Group, owners of the packaged drinking water brand Oxyrich, have jointly committed ₹25 crore over the next five years to sponsor the Maharashtra Cricket Association. Their sponsorship is aimed at supporting grassroots cricket development in the state with a primary focus on identifying and nurturing budding talent and facilitating the holistic development of players at all levels.
Rohit Pawar, President of the Maharashtra Cricket Association, highlighted that this partnership will enhance facilities, infrastructure development, welfare schemes, and grassroots development, particularly in remote areas of the state. The Punit Balan Group, with investments in various sports, including cricket, aims to unlock the potential of the state’s remote areas.
As part of the association, the Manikchand Oxyrich logo will feature on the shirt sleeves, while the Punit Balan Group’s logo will appear on the front of Maharashtra’s men’s and women’s teams’ jerseys across all age groups.Sponsorships in sports in India have grown by 105% since 2021, with cricket accounting for a significant portion of the total spending.
The Maharashtra Cricket Association, founded in 1953, represents the state in domestic championships such as the Ranji Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy. With this sponsorship, the association aims to strengthen its grassroots initiatives and foster emerging cricket talent in Maharashtra.
