Amid Suspended Arrest Warrants, Hussain and Hassan Make a Low-Key Arrival
The sons of three-time Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif have returned to Pakistan after six years in London, avoiding arrest in corruption cases related to the Panama Papers scandal, as reported by Dawn. Suspended Arrest Warrants The return of Hussain and Hassan was facilitated by the recent suspension of their arrest warrants by an accountability court, paving the way for their arrival in Pakistan.

The duo, like their father, had been living in self-imposed exile in the UK. They left Pakistan in 2018 following their involvement in corruption cases. Subsequently, they were declared proclaimed offenders for failing to participate in the investigation and court proceedings, leading to the issuance of arrest warrants against them, as reported by Dawn.
However, the recent decision by the Islamabad accountability court to suspend their arrest warrants until March 14 in corruption references related to Avenfield apartments, Al-Azizia, and Flagship Investment has opened the door for their return. Court Decision and Surrender Intentions The suspension came after Hussain and Hassan filed an application seeking the suspension of the warrants, expressing their intention to surrender before the court to face the proceedings.
According to Dawn, the court accepted their application, acknowledging their desire to surrender “in good faith” and face trial. They are scheduled to appear before the court by March 14. The court also agreed with the NAB prosecutor’s argument that the purpose of the perpetual arrest warrants is to ensure the attendance of the accused, indicating a willingness to allow them to face trial upon surrender.
In their written response to the Supreme Court regarding the Panama Papers case, Hussain admitted to owning offshore properties, while Hassan denied owning any property abroad, as reported by Dawn. This revelation adds further intrigue to their return and the ongoing legal proceedings against them in Pakistan.
