
Six Drug Peddlers Arrested in North Kashmir

Police in Baramulla and Sopore have arrested six individuals involved in drug peddling and recovered substantial quantities of contraband and psychotropic substances.
In Baramulla, a police team from Chandoosa, led by the SHO of Police Station Chandoosa, apprehended a drug peddler at a checkpoint in Thanda Kasi Chandoosa. The accused, identified as Mohd Shaban Maray, a resident of Dudbugh, was found in possession of 56 grams of charas.
Similarly, at Limber Boniyar, a team from Police Station Boniyar, under the leadership of the SHO, intercepted two suspects. They were identified as Mehraj Ahmad Najar, a resident of Limber, and Shabir Ahmad Bakerwal, a resident of Babagail Limber. Upon searching, the police recovered 88 grams of charas from their possession.

At another checkpoint near Babareshi Crossing, a police team from Police Post Babareshi intercepted two individuals identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Magray and Dawood Ahmad Magray, both residents of Dudbugh. The search led to the recovery of 85 grams of charas.
In Sopore, the police arrested Majid Ashraf Khan, a resident of Pethseer Sopore, at Chinar Crossing Fruit Mandi. During the operation, 110 banned Alprazolam tablets were seized from his possession.
All the accused have been arrested, and cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at their respective police stations. Investigations into the cases are underway.

Police have urged the public to cooperate in curbing the drug menace by reporting drug peddling or suspicious activities to the nearest police station or by dialling 112. Authorities have reassured the community of stringent action against those involved in criminal activities.
