Shehbaz Sharif has been elected as Pakistan’s 24th PM
Shehbaz Sharif emerged triumphant in the National Assembly session, securing 201 votes against his opponent, Omar Ayub Khan, who managed 92 votes. The session, presided over by National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, commenced with the oath-taking of PML-N’s Jam Kamal.

As the session unfolded, lawmakers from the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) expressed their dissent by chanting slogans and displaying pictures of the PTI founder. In a notable coalition, Shehbaz Sharif garnered support from the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan, and Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP). Notably, this alliance played a pivotal role in securing Sharif’s victory.

Sources have confirmed that the swearing-in ceremony for Shehbaz Sharif will take place on March 4 at 3 pm in the President’s House, with President Dr. Arif Alvi administering the oath to the new Prime Minister. Ishaq Dar, Hanif Abbasi, and Khursheed Shah played crucial roles in submitting the required documents on behalf of Shehbaz Sharif. A total of seven MNAs proposed and seven seconded Sharif’s nomination papers.
