
Sharad Pawar to Defend NCP Founder Status in ECI Hearing
Founder of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Sharad Pawar, announced his plans to be in Delhi on October 6 to present his perspective before the Election Commission of India (ECI) during the hearing concerning the split within his party. Speaking to reporters in Junnar, Maharashtra’s Pune district, Pawar stated that he has received the summons and will attend the hearing. The NCP experienced a division on July 2 when Sharad Pawar’s nephew, Ajit Pawar, led a surprise rebellion, aligning with Maharashtra’s Eknath Shinde government, along with eight MLAs.
Battle Over Party Name and Symbol
Both factions of the NCP have approached the ECI, asserting their rights to the party’s name and symbol. Sharad Pawar emphasized the significance of public opinion, stating that while individuals may hold varying political views, the founder of the NCP is well-known to Maharashtra and the rest of the country. He expressed confidence that the situation is favorable to his side.

Rejecting BJP Alliances
Sharad Pawar made it clear that those who have allied with the BJP cannot be considered part of the NCP, asserting that such compromises are unacceptable.
Future of the Opposition INDIA Bloc
Sharad Pawar also discussed the forthcoming plans of the opposition bloc INDIA, indicating that their course of action will be finalized in the coming days. He expressed the belief that a desire for change among the people will become evident after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
