The Supreme Court strongly rebuked the Uttarakhand government for tree felling in Jim Corbett National Park.
The court directed the Centre to establish a committee to propose measures for damage control and to recover costs from those accountable.
The bench, while hearing a petition by environmental activist Gaurav Bansal, opposed the proposal for a tiger safari and zoo within the national park.
The court allowed safari tours in the buffer zone but emphasized adherence to conservation guidelines, emphasizing the delicate balance between protecting tigers and forests.
