SAS Cabin Crew in Norway Reach Wage Deal, Avert Planned Strike
Oslo, Aug. 08 [VoM News]: Cabin crew members of Scandinavian airline SAS in Norway have reached a new wage agreement, averting a planned strike that was scheduled to begin on August 8, the Fellesforbundet trade union announced on Friday.
The union had earlier warned that cabin crew would walk off the job if a settlement was not reached before the deadline.
Under the agreement, the planned industrial action has been called off. However, the wage settlement remains subject to approval by a majority of union members through a vote.
Union officials said that if members reject the proposed agreement, strike action could still take place at a later date.
The agreement is expected to help ensure normal flight operations over the weekend, pending the outcome of the membership vote.
