Samson Praises Jaiswal’s 104-Run Knock Against MI
After Yashasvi Jaiswal’s impressive 104 runs against Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL 2024, Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Sanju Samson commended the young 22-year-old batsman. Jaiswal’s century led RR to a commanding 9-wicket victory over MI. He reached his 104 runs off 60 balls, boasting a strike rate of 173.33. His innings included 9 fours and 7 sixes.
Speaking at the post-match ceremony, Samson expressed confidence in Jaiswal, saying he doesn’t need any advice. “Yashasvi is very self-assured. It was just one game. We’ll assess the conditions in Lucknow for the next match,” Samson commented. He credited the team’s collective effort for the resounding win, especially praising their strong start in the powerplay and the outstanding performance by the left-handers.
Samson described the Jaipur pitch as initially “a bit dry,” but noted that it improved for batting in the second innings due to cooler night conditions.
MI, after winning the toss, chose to bat first. Their innings was anchored by Tilak Varma’s 65 and Nehal Wadhera’s 49, helping them reach 179/9. Sandeep Sharma was the standout bowler for RR, taking five wickets for just 18 runs in his four overs, while Trent Boult claimed 2 wickets.
In the chase, Jaiswal’s century steered RR to their 7th win of the season, defeating MI by 9 wickets. Piyush Chawla was the lone wicket-taker for MI.
With this victory, RR now leads the IPL 2024 table with 14 points, while MI languish in seventh place with six points.
