Safar-e-Azadi Protests Illuminate Plight of PoK Residents in Ongoing Struggle

In the ongoing series of protests in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK), the Safar-e-Azadi protests have taken center stage, aiming to shed light on the multifaceted challenges faced by the people in the region.

Safar-e-Azadi Protests Illuminate:Suppression Tactics by Pakistani Administration

Toqueer Gilani, a prominent PoK leader, raised his voice during the protest, highlighting the systematic suppression orchestrated by the Pakistani administration. He emphasized the oppressive tactics employed to silence the unique identity of PoK residents.

“While addressing the protestors, Gilani revealed a disturbing pattern of suppression, stating, ‘The suppressors always have tried to erase our identity, so that we lose our uniqueness and they paint us in their image.'”

Safar-e-Azadi Protests Illuminate:Political Landscape Dominated by External Forces

Gilani pointed out the dominance of external political entities, such as the Pakistan Muslim League (PML), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Jamaat-e-Islami (JEI), and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI), in PoK. These parties, he argued, are governed from Pakistan, leaving PoK without representation that truly belongs to its people.

“Our war for identity is not unconstitutional, against religion, or non-democratic. Pakistan will take care of us; this is the biggest lie that Pakistan has been telling us for over 40 years,” he asserted.

Safar-e-Azadi Protests Illuminate:Harassment of PoK Advocates by Pakistani Leadership

Drawing attention to the plight of PoK advocates, Gilani criticized the Pakistani political leadership for consistently harassing those who speak up for their rights. He debunked the notion that any political leaders have ever stood up for the people of PoK, accusing them of utilizing PoK residents against India.

“The area in which we are holding this protest is itself a forcefully occupied territory of Pakistan,” Gilani lamented, highlighting the oppressive conditions in PoK.

Safar-e-Azadi Protests Illuminate:Struggle Under Pakistani Governance and Socioeconomic Strain

Expressing dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs, Gilani underscored the lack of freedom and autonomy under the Pakistani Government. He decried the government’s failure to fulfill its responsibilities, leaving PoK residents grappling with poverty, helplessness, unemployment, and an ongoing struggle.

“We will pass our will to our children, as this government has left us begging for help and stranded. As this country has given us nothing except poverty, helplessness, unemployment, and struggle,” he declared. Gilani also addressed issues of inflation and underdevelopment, noting the absence of essential facilities despite the taxes paid by PoK residents.
