Rusted Shell Discovered Near LoC in Poonch

Poonch, Feb 7 – A rusted artillery shell was discovered in the Mankote sector of Mendhar, Poonch district, on Wednesday, causing brief concern among locals.

According to official sources, the aged shell was spotted near Dabraj, Ward No. 6, in an area ahead of the fence along the Line of Control (LoC). The discovery prompted authorities to take swift action to ensure public safety.

Upon receiving the alert, a specialized team from the Army’s Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was dispatched to the location. The team carefully assessed the situation and successfully neutralized the device without causing any damage to life or property.

Incidents of unexploded ordnance surfacing in border areas are not uncommon, given the region’s history of military activity. Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious objects immediately to prevent potential mishaps.

Thanks to the timely intervention of security forces, what could have been a dangerous situation was handled efficiently, restoring calm in the area.
