
Restart Talks with Iran, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan Urges Donald Trump
Ankara, Aug. 18, 2026 [VoM News]: On Tuesday, during a call with US President Donald Trump, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan asked the former to resume his discussions with Iran, as diplomatic talks should be prioritized so that friction between Tehran and Washington to fade, Reuters Reported.
Turkey has consistently asked for cessation of conflict and in contact with either sides and its mediators such as Pakistan and Qatar, while giving a help for lasting solutions.
Erdogan mentioned to Trump that diplomatic routes must be followed to its fullest and said that hope that conversations between United States and Iran would be resumed, according to the presidency office in Turkey.
The call came on when both sides were finding difficult to end the conflict, whereas the White House made it known that Iran was about to consider fully military posture since the extended agreement had been turned down.
The two parties were equally stuck with resuming normal transit of tankers to The Strait of Hormuz, which supplies oil to world.
Turkey condemned US and Israeli strike towards Iran, while at the same time denounces Tehran’s attacks toward Gulf nations.
Turkey demanded reopening of The Strait of Hormuz, and called for renewal of cease-fire.
The duo were communicating also on dealings related to their countries, Gaza row, a defense cooperation pact amongst Saudi Arabia, Turkey as well as Pakistan.
Mr. Erdogan expressed his worries regarding recurrence of attack from the Israeli administration targeting Palestinian Arabs since the beginning of the second section in the Gaza peace plan offered by Trump.
White House has not yet had a response on the said calls between the US president and his Turkish counter-part.
