Renewed Conflict Between Israel and Hamas Escalates
Following the cessation of a truce, the Israel Defence Force (IDF) has resumed operations against Hamas, with Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari stating the IDF’s intention to intensify actions against Hamas terrorists. The IDF used the seven-day truce period to enhance its readiness, refine intelligence, and operational procedures. Hagari highlighted the IDF’s commitment to minimizing civilian harm while targeting Hamas infrastructures.
Hamas’ Violation of Truce and IDF’s Response
Hagari accused Hamas of breaking the humanitarian pause, specifically mentioning their refusal to release hostages, including women, children, and babies, as part of the agreed terms. He asserted that Hamas’ actions, including rocket fire towards Israeli homes, were clear indications of their choice for war.
Israel’s Efforts to Protect Civilians
The IDF emphasized its efforts to mitigate harm to Gazan civilians, accusing Hamas of embedding itself among the civilian population. The IDF’s war, as stated, is against Hamas, not the people of Gaza. The IDF’s statement and actions reflect a focus on targeting Hamas while trying to avoid civilian casualties.
International Involvement and Hostage Situation
The IDF spokesperson urged international organizations to assist in the effort to release hostages held by Hamas. The appeal includes a call for the Red Cross to gain access to these hostages, who are reportedly being held in inhumane conditions.
High-Level Israeli Cabinet Meeting
Amidst the escalating situation, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened a war cabinet meeting at the Defence Ministry headquarters in Tel Aviv. The meeting included top Israeli defense and security officials, discussing the ongoing conflict and strategies moving forward.
