
Reasi Police Rescues 22 Bovine Smugglers, 2 FIRs lodged
๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐ถ, ๐ ๐ฎ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฎ: In a major breakthrough against the menace of bovine smuggling, Reasi Police has successfully foiled two separate smuggling attempts, rescued 22 bovines and arrested the accused in both cases. The proactive action is part of the district policeโs ongoing mission to eradicate bovine smuggling through coordinated intelligence and swift enforcement.
In the first incident, acting on a specific input received at Police Station Reasi, a team from Police Post Talwara intercepted two smugglers attempting to illegally transport bovines from Village Patta towards Kashmir on foot. The accused Mohd Mussa S/O Firoz Din and Mohd Shakeel S/O Mohd Yousuf both residents of Village Kansi Patta, Reasi, were apprehended near Zero Morh, leading to the rescue of 20 bovine animals.

An FIR bearing No. 90/2025 under sections 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Reasi. Further investigation is underway to unearth the broader network involved in this illegal trade.

In a separate case, Police Station Arnas received credible input regarding illegal transportation of bovines from Thuroo towards Kashmir through a vehicle bearing Registration No. JK20A-7562. A swift action team apprehended the accused Deepak Thakur S/O Gulail Singh R/O Thuroo, Tehsil Arnas and rescued 02 bovine animals being smuggled without the requisite permission from the District Magistrate.
A case under FIR No. 25/2025 U/S 223 BNS has been lodged at Police Station Arnas and investigation has been initiated.
