Realme Teases Upcoming Smartphone Launch in India; Realme 12 Series or Realme GT 5 Pro Expected
Realme, known for its lineup of smartphones, is gearing up for multiple launches in 2024. The company recently introduced the Realme C67 5G in India, followed by the release of a 4G variant. Confirming its plans for an imminent launch, Realme India teased an update on a forthcoming smartphone. Although no specifics were shared, speculation points toward a potential launch of either the Realme 12 series or the Realme GT 5 Pro, unveiled in China last December.
The company’s New Year’s morning update on social media hinted at an unveiling scheduled for January 3, at 7.30 AM IST, indicating a possible reveal of an unnamed handset. While no device details were provided, this teaser fueled guesses and speculations among users, hinting at a probable launch of the Realme 12 Pro and Realme 12 Pro+. Notably, these models were recently spotted on the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) website, affirming their monikers and potential 5G capability.
Additionally, sightings on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and Indonesia’s SDPPI certification sites further suggested an imminent India launch for the Realme 12 Pro and Realme 12 Pro+. Despite these sightings, the 12 series has yet to receive an official announcement from Realme. However, the company has hinted at a flagship smartphone equipped with a periscope camera, sparking rumors about the possible debut of the Realme 12 Pro+.
Tipster Abhishek Yadav (@yabhishekhd) reinforced the speculation, asserting the impending arrival of the Realme 12 Pro+ by the end of January or in February. The phone is expected to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 series chipset, potentially the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC.
Amidst these rumors, the January 3 update might also relate to the Realme GT 5 Pro’s potential launch in India. Launched in China boasting flagship features like a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, a 1.5K resolution display with 144Hz refresh rate, and a powerful camera setup, the Realme GT 5 Pro’s Indian debut is yet to be confirmed by the company.
