Rajouri Mysterious Deaths: Minor Girl Falls Ill, Ailing Tally Rises to Six
The mysterious deaths in Rajouri have developed into a serious health crisis, as another minor girl falls ill, raising the ailing tally to six.
According to reports received by VoM News, nearly 300 people have been placed in quarantine centers after coming into contact with the 17 individuals or their families who lost their lives.
The mysterious illness has so far claimed 17 lives. A national team has taken 238 samples and sent them for testing to various institutes. The tests have revealed the presence of certain toxins, rather than a bacterial or viral infection.
Those believed to have been in contact with affected families are being quarantined as a precautionary measure.
The ailing tally now stands at six, including three people undergoing treatment at GMC Jammu, while one person is being treated at PGI Chandigarh.

The Budhal area of Rajouri’s Kotranka division has been the epicenter of this serious health crisis. Recently, samples from a local water source, a “bawli,” tested positive for pesticides and insecticides. Access to the water supply from this bawli has been halted, and the police have deployed security to ensure no villagers use it.
The administration has taken strict measures, and officials have been assigned tasks to address residents’ needs.
Meanwhile, residents protested at Gujjar Mandi, Rajouri, demanding the immediate transfer of ailing girls from GMC Rajouri and GMC Jammu to PGIMER Chandigarh.
Residents have criticized the poor response and management at GMC Jammu and have demanded that the issue not be politicized. Protesters, carrying banners, have suggested keeping the affected people from Budhal in containment zones within their village.
The administration has declared Budhal village a containment zone. Prohibitory orders have been imposed on all public and private gatherings.
CCTV cameras have been installed to monitor meal preparation and distribution. Female officers have been deployed for the welfare of women, while the Husbandry and Agriculture Departments have been tasked with managing domestic animals in Budhal.
The Principal of GMC Jammu has assured residents of the best possible medical assistance.
After neurotoxins were found in samples from the deceased, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has started probing potential criminal aspects. In this regard, more than three dozen suspects have been questioned.
