Rajnath Singh Greenlights National Cadet Corps Expansion
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has given the green light for the expansion of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), adding 300,000 cadets to its ranks. This expansion aims to meet the growing demand for NCC enrollment from educational institutions across India.
NCC: World’s Largest Uniformed Youth Organization
With a sanctioned strength of 20 lakh cadets, the NCC solidifies its position as the world’s largest uniformed youth organization. Originally starting with just 20,000 cadets in 1948, the NCC has witnessed exponential growth over the years.
Expansion Plan and Impact
The expansion plan includes establishing four new Group Headquarters and adding two new NCC units. With NCC offered as an elective subject under the National Education Policy 2020, this expansion aligns with the aspirations of youth to play a significant role as future leaders.
Employment Opportunities for Ex-Servicemen
As part of the expansion, ex-servicemen will be employed as NCC instructors, leveraging their skills and experience to provide quality training to cadets. This initiative not only benefits NCC cadets but also generates employment opportunities for veterans, highlighting the commitment to nurturing future leaders imbued with discipline, leadership, and service.
