Rajasthan Prepares for Cabinet Swearing-in Ceremony Amid Political Criticism

Today at 3:15 pm, the Raj Bhavan in Rajasthan will host the state cabinet’s swearing-in ceremony following Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma’s meeting with Governor Kalraj Mishra, requesting the Council of Ministers’ formal induction.

Approximately 18 to 20 MLAs are set to take ministerial oaths, incorporating both fresh faces and seasoned politicians within Sharma’s cabinet, reports indicate.

The cabinet expansion aims to strike a balance in caste and regional representation, aligning strategies with the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Careful consideration is being given to ensuring proportional representation across regions and major caste groups in the cabinet.

Presently, the state’s leadership comprises Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, a Brahmin, alongside Deputy Chief Ministers Diya Kumari, a Rajput, and Prem Chand Bairwa, representing the Scheduled Caste.

The delay in forming the cabinet has invited criticism from Congress leaders. Jairam Ramesh highlighted the BJP’s 26-day delay in forming the Council of Ministers since the Assembly election results were announced.

Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot expressed concerns over governance coming to a halt due to the cabinet’s delayed formation, stressing the public’s growing disillusionment with the delayed governance. He urged for swift cabinet formation to restore smooth functioning and efficient governance for the benefit of Rajasthan’s populace.
