- This marks the ninth drug seizure by Jammu GRP in the past two months.
- Ongoing investigation to uncover source and network behind drug supply.
In a significant crackdown, the Government Railway Police (GRP) Jammu recovered seven kilograms of ganja, a banned narcotic substance, at Kathua railway station. The contraband, estimated to be worth Rs 7 lakh in the market, was discovered during a routine operation, a senior police officer confirmed on Friday.
The police registered a case under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the GRP Kathua Police Station. Authorities have launched a thorough investigation to trace the origins and distribution channels linked to the seized drug.
The focus is on identifying both backward and forward connections to dismantle the network responsible for transporting the illegal substance.
This seizure is part of a broader effort by GRP Jammu to combat the trafficking of illegal drugs in the region. According to the police, this is the ninth instance in the past two months where banned drugs have been seized. The cumulative market value of all the narcotics seized during this period is approximately Rs 1.4 crore.
The GRP’s intensified operations against drug smuggling have yielded substantial results, but the ongoing investigations are expected to provide further insights into the networks involved. The authorities remain committed to curbing the inflow of narcotics into the region and are determined to bring those responsible to justice.
With such coordinated efforts, the GRP Jammu continues its mission to eradicate drug trafficking, which remains a growing concern in the area.
