Railway Board Allots Eight Coaches for Vande Bharat Express in Jammu and Kashmir
According to a report by The Hindu, the Railway Board has assigned eight coaches for the operation of a Vande Bharat Express along the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a significant development, the Northern Railway recently executed a successful 15-km trial run of an electric train from Banihal to Khari Railway Station in Ramban district. This marks the first allotment of an eight-car electric train for the Union Territories. The move is expected to enhance connectivity and transportation in the region significantly.
Moreover, there are discussions within the Central government regarding the potential inauguration of the Vande Bharat Express. If realized, this initiative could establish a crucial rail link connecting Kashmir with the rest of India. The possibility of this connection being established before the Lok Sabha elections in 2024 is under consideration, indicating a strategic and significant infrastructure development.
