    Radha Devi, Diksha Devi, and Shahnaz Akhter claimed gold medals in the district-level athletics meet organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) in Reasi.

    The event, held at General Zorawar Singh Stadium, witnessed fierce competition among schoolgirls in the under-14, under-17, and under-19 categories.

    In the under-14 category, Shahnaz Akhter from GHS Kheralair emerged victorious in the 100-meter sprint. Other winners in this group included Shagufta Kousar (HS Kambal Danga) in the 200 meters, Ruksana (GGHSS Khairlair) in the 400 meters, and Shenza Akther (HS Kheralair) in the 600 meters.

    The field events saw Samreen (GMS Upper Seela) dominate in long jump, Veerta Devi (GGHSS Reasi) in shot put, and Simran Devi (HSS Khairlair) in discus.

    In the under-17 category, Diksha Devi from HSS Panasa clinched the top spot in the 100-meter sprint, with Aarti Devi (GHSS Reasi) winning the 400 meters and Vanshika Devi (HSS Poouni) excelling in javelin throw. Ruksana Bibi (HSS Panassa) secured first place in both the 400 meters and shot put events.

    The under-19 group saw Radha Devi from GHSS Pouni take the gold in the 100-meter dash. Other notable performances included Shaboo Devi (HSS Arnas) in the 400 meters, Anjali Rajput (HSS Kotli Bhaga) in the 1500 meters, and Kajal Devi (HSS Arnas) in shot put.

    The district DYSS officer, Tarsem Singh, congratulated the young athletes and encouraged them as they prepare to represent Reasi at the upcoming UT-level athletics meet.
