Protest Against Katra Ropeway Project enters second Day

The protest against the ropeway project in Katra enters its second day on Thursday. All the shops, establishments, and restaurants were closed today also, whereas no movement of vehicular movement was seen on the roads.

The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Sangharsh Samiti has called for a 72-hour shutdown, starting on Wednesday, announcing the closure of all activities in Katra of district Reasi.

Sangharsh Samiti has hinted at halting the bandh if the government stops this ropeway project and has labelled this step as an assault on the livelihoods of residents in Katra. As the residents are dependent on the pilgrimage economy, this ropeway project would destroy their livelihoods.
