JAMMU, Oct 9: School Education Department today ordered suspension of Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, Principal of Boys Higher Secondary School, Sopore, with immediate effect and appointed Director School Education Kashmir as the Inquiry Officer.
As per the order, the Inquiry Officer shall conduct an inquiry into the matter and submit the report along with recommendations to the School Education Department, within 15 days.
Pending inquiry into the allegations against him, Mushtaq Ahmad Rather shall remain attached in the office of the Chief Education officer, Baramulla. The Drawing and Disbursing Powers of BHSS Sopore have been assigned to the Principal Girls Higher Secondary School, Sopore, till further orders.
Interestingly, the suspension order was issued by the Principal Secretary Alok Kumar just before handing over the additional charge of School Education Department. When contacted and asked for the reason behind suspension of the Principal as the same was not mentioned in the order, he said that the officer taking over as new Secretary of the School Education Department would divulge the cause.
