In a remarkable achievement, a young individual from district Poonch has been honored with the prestigious Global Pride Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions as a social worker. Nazakat Choudhary, a 22-year-old native of an LoC village in Mendhar area, has not only earned accolades but also had the privilege of receiving applause from none other than the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi.
From Student to Social Activist
Hailing from the challenging terrain of Mendhar, Nazakat Choudhary embarked on a journey of social activism after completing his graduation from Delhi University. Despite his young age, he has emerged as a beacon of inspiration for the youth in his region, motivating them to actively engage in community service.
A Catalyst for Positive Change
Nazakat’s commitment to his community is evident through the various awareness camps he has organized in the border belt of Mendhar. His passion for serving the people in his area is further exemplified by the numerous career counseling and skill development programs he has initiated for the local youth. He has also played a pivotal role in ensuring the success of government-sponsored initiatives.
A Hero During the Pandemic
During the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, Nazakat worked tirelessly in his area, providing essential support to those in need. His dedication did not go unnoticed, as he received recognition and honors from various organizations and senior government officials.
A Special Encounter with the Prime Minister
Nazakat’s exceptional dedication and impact on society led to a unique opportunity. He had the privilege of representing Jammu and Kashmir at the Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Sangam-2023 program held at the International Convention Centre, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, with Prime Minister Modi as the chief guest. During this event, Nazakat had the honor of interacting with the Prime Minister on July 29. Out of the numerous young participants from different states, only 13 were shortlisted for this special interaction with PM Modi, and Nazakat proudly represented Jammu and Kashmir. Notably, Nazakat’s achievements were featured prominently on the front page of the Yuva Sangam Book, published by the Union Ministry of Education/HRD this year.

Nazakat Choudhary’s selfless contributions have earned him recognition from various quarters. He has been felicitated and awarded by the office of Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha, Principal Secretary Education Alok Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Poonch Mohd Yasin, Secretary of Tribal Affairs Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Revenue Secretary Piyush Singla, the former SSP of Poonch Ramesh Angral, and the former DC of Rajouri Ajaz Ahmed Asad, among many others.
