Police seize six vehicles, arrest drivers in crackdown on illegal mining in Baramulla

SRINAGAR: Police have intensified their crackdown on illegal mining and transportation of minerals, seizing six vehicles and arresting six drivers in Baramulla.

“Under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla and SDPO Kreeri, a police team seized two tippers, two dumpers, and two tractors at Gantamulla Payeen and Frastahaar Kreeri.

The arrested drivers have been identified as Anzar Malla from Sheeri, Ghulam Hassan Malik from Kitchama, Irfan Ahmad Bhat from Hajin Bandipora, Mumtaz Ahmad Wani from Nadihal Bandipora, Ab Hameed Waza, and Omer Waza, both from Frastahaar,” a police spokesperson said in a statement.

Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Sheeri and Police Station Kreeri, and investigations are underway, police said.
