Police Seize 14 Vehicles, Arrest 14 Drivers in Baramulla for Illegal Mining

In a stringent action against illegal mining and transportation of minerals, the police in Baramulla have seized 14 vehicles and arrested 14 drivers. The operation was carried out by a police team supervised by DySP Headquarters Baramulla and SDPOs of Pattan and Tangmarg.

They were assisted by SHOs of police stations Baramulla, Kunzer, Tangmarg, and the Incharge of Police Post Palhallan.

The crackdown took place at Khore Sherabad, where 14 vehicles, including 3 dumpers, 8 tippers, and 3 tractors, were confiscated. The drivers involved in the illegal activities have been identified as follows:

Riyaz Ahmad Ganie of Zehanpora Boniyar, Shaheen Ahmad Khan of Kanispora, Suhail Ahmad Rather of Delina, Hilal Ahmad of Hamchipora Khag, Pir Momin of Poshker Khag, Owais Gani Shah of Batapora, Aijaz Ahmad Shah of Takia Batpora, Ab Qayoom Mir of Wussan, Aijaz Ahmad Dar of Bungam, Manzoor Ahmad Reshi of Shrai, Sajad Ahmad Dar of Jalsheeri, Mohd Iqbal Malik of Drangbal, Sajad Ahmad Chopan of Zoogiyar, and Mohd Ashraf Dar of Khanpora.

Cases have been registered under the relevant sections of law in Police Stations Pattan, Kunzer, Tangmarg, and Baramulla. Investigations are underway to uncover further details regarding the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.

The police have issued a stern warning to those engaging in illegal mining activities, stating that such actions will be dealt with strictly according to the law.

Community members are encouraged to report any criminal activities in their neighborhoods to the local police units to aid in maintaining law and order.
