    Continuing their relentless efforts to eradicate the drug menace in the community, police in Baramulla have successfully arrested two individuals for drug possession.

    The arrests were made during a routine checkpoint operation near Government Degree College Boniyar, led by the Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Station Boniyar.

    The suspects, identified as Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, son of Habibullah from Bagna Salamabad, and Mubashir Ahmad Khan, son of Atta Mohammad Khan from Girdnawah Nowshera, were apprehended while passing through the checkpoint.

    During the search, authorities discovered 48 grams of a substance resembling charas in their possession. The contraband was immediately seized, and the suspects were taken into custody.

    Both individuals have been formally arrested and are currently held at Police Station Boniyar, where they remain under investigation.

    A case has been registered against them under relevant sections of the law, and further inquiries are underway to determine the full extent of their involvement in drug trafficking.

    In a statement, a police spokesperson urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, particularly those related to drug peddling, to their nearest police station or by dialing emergency number 112.

    The spokesperson emphasized the importance of community cooperation in the ongoing fight against drugs and reassured citizens that the police are committed to taking strict legal action against anyone involved in such criminal activities.

    This latest operation is part of a broader strategy to curb the drug problem in the region, and authorities have vowed to continue their efforts until the menace is completely eradicated.
